A kwaiken or kaiken (bosom knife) is a 20 - 25 cm (8–10 in) long, generally single edged knife without ornamental fittings worn by Samurai men and women in Japan, a kind of short version of the Tanto. All wives of a Samurai class man were expected to carry one in the inside pocket of a kimono sleeve or inside the lapel.
